Bingo Story

At Clipwire Games in downtown Toronto, I worked on both The Price Is Right: Bingo! and Bingo Story as Lead Game Designer.

I’ve helped Bingo Story impressively raise its ARPDAU from $0.50 to over $1.00 in a little over 4 months. With constant A/B testing on new features, economy updates, FTUE updates and monthly updates, Bingo Story has seen a revival, increasing our ROAS and Retention significantly, alonside the growing revenue and strong conversion rates on a nearly decade-old game.

My dedication to the project continuously allowed me to absorb more responsibility, bolstering my strong understanding for great live-service, long-term games.

My Responsibilities

  • Managed product timeline, team tasks and project direction for all Clipwire Games products

  • Responsible for 3M+ monthly revenue from 500K+ annual players across multiple live games

  • Iterated and refined on existing game mechanics with playtest feedback

  • Designed new gameplay mechanics that fit with theming and project scope

  • Refined gameplay and mechanics through rigorous playtesting and iteration

  • Analyzed daily user KPIs and metrics, resulting in data-driven decisions and iterative monthly updates

  • Proposed and developed 150+ A/B tests resulting in persistent increases in key metrics such as ARPPUARPDAU, LTV, Retention and Conversion

  • Logged and tracked 500+ tasks and bugs

My Designs

  • Bingo Story’s economy had lots of underlying economy issues when I first joined the project as a Game Designer. Over the course of 6 months, I dramatically updated the core game economy to have a fewer currencies and tighter control on hard currency.

    This has also allowed me to investigate the soft currency to create a soft-pinch on end-of-game loss aversion. This creates a strong and healthy game economy based around affording users gameplay and pinching o soft-currency to make their sunken currency even more valuable.

    I attribute all of the economy success to my constant and thorough A/B testing, which has provided endless data to support my hypotheses and helped me make data-driven decisions.

  • Bingo Story was silent on new features since the start of development of The Price Is Right: Bingo! Whe I joined the project, I instantly started work on new FTUE features and cleanup, as well as new revenue-generating passes and features. These passes, within less than 1 month, gained the prodcut more than $120,000 in revenue and growing.

    I’ve continued to work on new feature development, with new ground-breaking features releasing in our 1.68.0 release that includes soft-currency pinch points that were afforded by my endless economy bucket testing.

  • Bingo Story has been on the market for over 7 years, meaning there is a lot to unpack in the game. While leading the project, I continue to push for the most polish and bug-free releases that we can.

    I continue to playtest, prototype, polish and discuss the game daily, aiming for the best product we can achieve as a team.
